Imperial Verses Metric Cable Sizes

Can somebody tell me if a cable with seven strands of 0.029 of an inch c.s.a.(formerly sold as 7.029 cable) is bigger or smaller that its metric replacement which has a cross sectional area of 2.5mm. There must be thousands of electricians out there wondering and not asking. Many thanks.

Please ignore the question asked, I have just discovered that the 0.029 was the cable diameter, not the c.s.a.
